Suzette discovered Pilates while working at a health club in Colorado as a fitness instructor. As an exercise enthusiast, she quickly made it part of her regular fitness routine. But, it was after suffering a stress fracture in her foot from running that Pilates became an integral part of her rehabilitation and new body awareness. She was amazed at how much concentration, coordination and strength it took to execute the exercises. She was also excited about how quickly her body was healing, getting stronger and more flexible, and as Joseph Pilates would say, “we are only as young as our spine is flexible”.
She took that excitement and desire to share her experience with others and entered the comprehensive instructor training program with Peak Pilates. Under the direction of Clare Dunphy, who studied with Romana Kryzanowska, and Colleen Glenn, who co-founded the Pilates Method Alliance, Suzette received her instructor certification with Peak Pilates in 2011. She continues to expand her education in Pilates by regularly attending teacher training sessions and workshops as well as practicing the art. Her passion for Pilates clearly comes through in her teaching and she loves to see her clients have those “aha” moments when they experience a “Mind, Body and Spirit” connection.
In addition to Suzette’s talents as a Pilates instructor, she rounded off her whole body education by getting certified as a health coach in 2012 after attending the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York. And, in 2013, she became board certified with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners as a Holistic Health Practitioner, using changes in diet and lifestyle as medicine to heal the body.
