Freedom. This is the word that should describe this workout. The freedom of movement WITH and IN your own body. This flow takes several advanced Pilates exercises that can be very intimidating and challenging if done on the Reformer and brings them to the mat. You get the FREEDOM of practicing the moves without the restrictions of the apparatus.
Don’t get me wrong, I love working out on the Reformer but in the past year or so I have become obsessed with mat workouts. In 2016 I have started taking Yoga as a way to get to know my body better. I fell in love with the graceful flow of a Yoga practice that is free from any distractions or restrictions (no need to adjust springs or loops or bring any additional props.) Flow is one of the principles of Pilates as well and I feel that it can be best experienced on the mat.
In this 25-min Pilates workout you will experience a generous amount of twists to loosen the joints and help with digestion (I hope I am not the only one enjoying all the holiday treats!) You will open up the shoulders after many hours of writing Christmas cards and wrapping presents. And practice some balance to make sure that you did not have too much EggNog or spiced wine.
