Empowered. I know it’s an overused word these days but I feel that it fully describes how Pilates makes me feel in my body. And todays’ workout will make you feel that way too.
Unlike many teachers who come to Pilates from dance or gymnastics background I have never been an athletic person. Growing up I preferred to cuddle up with a book on a couch rather than run and play with the kids outside.
Eventually I kind of “fell” into Pilates and discovered new confidence in my body and passion in my life. I was able to tap into the power that my body possessed by engaging my powerhouse and working with control and precision. In Pilates every movement counts and I find that I “practice” Pilates even when I am not “doing” Pilates.
Today I invite you to join me for the untraditional Pilates power workout. On the days when I am really short on time but I want to get my stretching and strengthening moves in I take my practice to the WALL.
All of the moves in this workout are classical Pilates exercises traditionally done on the Reformer or Cadillac that have been flipped, inverted and pinned to the wall so that you can do them anywhere. All you need is a smooth wall and a little bit of space in front of it.
Outfit: The Capri Yogzi by Noya. I must say that I have truly fallen in love with this one-piece outfit. I am able to do a Jack Knife or go into an Arabesque without my top flying over my head. And I SOOO love it during the Neck Pull or Stomach Massage – the pants stay right where they are supposed to.
